Winter Wonder | Extended Family Session at Baker Park
It was truly an honour when Matt contacted me again, asking if I would be available to capture an extended family session for them during the holidays. I was excited to learn that Susan’s mother and family were in town for a visit—extended family photo sessions are so fun! There’s something so special about gathering loved ones together, and what better way to create lasting memories? The holiday season always feels like a perfect time for this, as it brings everyone closer, and the joy is often magnified by the festive spirit in the air.
In Calgary’s Northwest, I have a few locations I like to rotate for family sessions, but in the winter months, practicality is key—nobody wants to walk too far from their car when the temperatures drop. Baker Park immediately came to mind as the ideal setting for our session. It’s conveniently located near the parking lot, which is a plus for families, especially when little ones are involved. Plus, Baker Park offers a myriad of beautiful backdrops—there are plenty of nooks and crannies to explore, allowing us to create unique memories. A bonus is that the park is stunning throughout the year, with each season offering its own charm. The weather just a couple of days before Christmas was perfect—not too cold, with a light dusting of snow that created a winter wonderland atmosphere for our session.
Winter photo sessions are incredibly magical; the snow on the trees and ground truly enhances the scene. Wearing big coats, cozy sweaters, and plenty of layers adds a wonderful aesthetic to your photos!
